Windy for northern Europe, snow and hail showers
A large area of low pressure centred over Scandinavia brings chilly and showery conditions to northern Europe. Clusters of wintry showers for western Norway, plus the Low Countries and Denmark, spreading inland into Germany. Snow, hail and possible thunder. Strong to gale force winds across the North Sea will result in heavy seas on surrounding coastlines.
A cold front extends in a broad arc from the northern Baltic across eastern and central Europe. Heavy snow in Finland, perhaps mostly rain for the Baltic states and Poland. Snow for the Alps. Heavy bursts of rain locally in northern Italy. Showery rain for northern Spain, with snow over high ground. Dry and warm for southern Spain and Portugal, 16 to 19C. Breezy for the central Mediterranean. Fair weather for Greece and much of south-eastern Europe.
Low pressure develops over northern Italy, and advances into the Balkans, bringing heavy rain and mountain snow. Risk of local gales around western Italy and southern France. A few showers may reach Greece. Meanwhile, much of Spain and Portugal should stay dry and sunny. Warmest in the Algarve at 19C.
Chilly across central Europe, with temperatures near or only just above freezing for many areas of Germany, the Alps, Poland and Hungary. A few snow flurries. Mainly dry for France. Windy with squally wintry showers for the Netherlands and Denmark. Low pressure remains centred over Scandinavia, bringing frequent snow to western Norway, but much of southern Sweden may escape dry. Snow and rain for Finland and the Baltic states.
