Flooding rain Greece & Albania
Cold northerly winds will affect western Europe, with wintry showers for northern Spain and France - falling as snow over higher terrain. Portugal and southern Spain should stay dry and sunny, highs 15C. Low pressure over the western Mediterranean brings thundery rain to the Balearics, Corsica and Sardinia. Some heavy rain too for southern Italy. Prolonged heavy rain affects western Greece and Albania, with concerns for further flooding here. A strong southerly wind for the Aegean Sea and western Turkey.
Patchy snow across the Alps, whilst much of Germany and the Low Countries will stay dry but chilly at 2 to 5C. Breezy for Poland, with a few showers in the north. Low pressure brings persistent rain and snow to the Baltic states and southern Finland. Dry for most of Sweden, Denmark and southern Norway. Heavy snow for northern Norway as a front moves in from west - strong winds bringing blizzard conditions. Widely sub-zero across northern Scandinavia.
Low pressure over the Mediterranean brings heavy rain and strong to gale force winds for western Italy and southern France. Thundery downpours for the islands of the western Med. Snow over the mountains around the French-Italian border. Snow showers over northern Spain. Dry and sunny for south-western Spain and Portugal, highs 14C. Windy across the Alps, but largely dry. A zone of rain for Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine, with snow over the Carpathian mountains. Showery for the southern Balkans and Greece.
High pressure over northern-central Europe brings bright weather to much of France the Low Countries, Germany and Poland, but it will be chilly with some lingering low lying fog patches, 1 to 4C. Widespread overnight frost. A westerly breeze influences Scandinavia, allowing less cold air to filter in from the Atlantic. Rain and snow for Norway, but Sweden and the Baltic region should be largely dry.
