Becoming hot, thundery
Mostly unsettled, best in south east

Issued: 0655 Sunday 8th July 2007
Duty forecaster: John Ejdowski

Risk of heavy thunderstorms later as temperatures to climb into the 30s

As low pressure clears on Tuesday we'll see high pressure building into the south of Britain. As this high develops over France, a south east wind will bring much warmer air into the United Kingdom as it turns hot and humid. Models are indicating a thundry spell of rain by the weekend, especially across western areas. Confidence is low on the exact area to be affected.

Thursday 12/07/07
A lot of cloud and some patchy rain across Britain at first this morning. Through the morning the rain is expected to fade. The afternoon looks fine, dry, mostly sunny and warmer. Continued dry this evening and overnight. Highs of 18 to 23C.

Friday 13/07/07
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle across south western parts of England this morning will spread north east into all but the East Midlands, East Anglia and the south east of England inn the afternoon. Here it stays dry and bright and warm. Continued wet into the evening and bight except in the southern half of England. Highs of 18 to 24C.

Saturday 14/07/07
After a dull, drizzly start, it brightens up across England and Wales. Still wet for Scotland and Scotland with rain which turns more showery in the afternoon. Some heavy, thundery showers also develop across Wales and northern England this afternoon as it becomes hot. Highs of 20 to 29C north to south.

Sunday 15/07/07
A very hot, humid day to come, especially across south east England and East Anglia. Here its stays dry with the best of the sunshine. Elsewhere look for heavy showers and a risk of thunderstorms. Expect highs of 22 to 28C but up to 30C in the south east.

Monday 16/07/07
It's looking very hot with a risk of heavy, thundery downpours across all but the East Midlands, East Anglia and south east England. Here it should remain dry with low cloud clearing to hazy sunshine. Highs at 23 to 31C.
