Windy, bright spells
Rain in the north
Friday Outbreaks of rain through northern parts of England this morning, most of them light, but an odd heavier one can't be ruled out over the Pennines. The rain slowly fading away in the afternoon, although for most it will be staying rather cloudy. Over Scotland sunny spells and showers can be expected, with the sunshine in short supply through more central areas. Ireland too will be having some showers, most of them through northern areas, with the far south staying mainly dry. For the rest of England and Wales the morning will be windy, although mainly dry. An odd shower is possible over the Welsh Mountains, especially this morning, and for many there will be a fair amount of cloud. Temperatures peaking at 19C in the best of the sunshine in the southwest, nearer 16 to 18C elsewhere.
Friday night Further showers are likely tonight across the far north of England and central southern parts of Scotland. The showers could be heavy in places. Drier for central and northern Scotland. For England, Wales and Ireland the night will be mainly dry. Winds are going to be easing with some clearer skies coming through. A few showers could occur through northwest England and western Ireland, together with north Wales. Temperatures at 8 to 12C.
Saturday A brighter day for many on Saturday. The winds continue to fall lighter for much of England, Wales and Ireland. There may be some morning showers across north-western England, but all other areas should be dry with sunny spells. The sunshine becoming stronger through the day, with the best of it through southwest England, Wales and southern Ireland. For Scotland there will be more cloud around and some showers once again. Thicker cloud over northern coasts of Scotland will be bringing more persistent rain. Temperatures at 22C in the sunshine through southern England, 15C in northern Scotland.
Sunday A fine morning for Sunday over most of southern, central and northern England. There will be sunshine to across Wales and western England, although showers already into Ireland are going to be spreading eastwards. These may well become thundery in the afternoon, and then spread through England in the evening with the risk of some localised downpours. Southern Scotland should be staying dry until evening too, when the showers will be breaking out here. For northern Scotland there will be thicker cloud with some patchy rain at times. Temperatures at 24C in the sunshine in the southeast, nearer 17 to 20C elsewhere.
