A warm and dry start to the weekend, but showers will be edging northwards. This brings more unsettled conditions through the first part of the new week too. later in the week pressure builds again and conditions will become drier and brighter once again with temperatures rising.

Monday 28/5/12
Low pressure edging into the south of Ireland on Monday with high pressure to the north and east of the country. There will be cloud and showery periods of rain over Ireland and Wales as well as much of central and southern England. Further north and east conditions will be dry with sunny spells, although the threat of showers forming in the afternoon over the hills. Highs at 22C in the sunnier north and east, but a cooler 15 or 16C in the west.

Tuesday 29/5/12
Pressure is generally higher through the UK on Tuesday, but with the low moving west of Ireland. This brings some cloud and outbreaks of rain in western Ireland. Elsewhere there will be good spells of sunshine and it should be very warm. This warmth triggering a few showers in the afternoon. Highs around 18 to 23C.

Wednesday 30/5/12
A slack pressure flow through the country on Wednesday. Pressure is expected to be generally high, but a front will be passing northwards. This may bring a fair amount of cloud through Ireland, Wales and southern England with the risk of some spots of rain. Scotland and the far north of England should be drier and brighter with sunny spells here. Highs at 15 to 22C

Thursday 31/5/12
A ridge of high pressure extending through all areas on Thursday. This brings fine conditions with good spells of sunshine in England and most of Wales. Fronts may brush north through more western parts of Scotland, Ireland and the west of Wales with more cloud and some spots of rain here. Highs around 17 to 23C.

Friday 1/6/12
Probably turning more unsettled across southern parts of the UK and Ireland with some heavy showers or longer spells of rain here on Friday. The north is likely to be dry with sunny spells, the best to the west. Highs at 16 to 20C.

Saturday 2/6/12
High pressure brings a fine day on Saturday to most of the country. There should be good spells of sunshine throughout the day. A few showers affecting East Anglia and southeast England where it could be breezy too. Highs at 17 to 23C.
