Heat building across western Europe
High pressure across western Europe brings extensive dry and very warm weather. Hot across Iberia, widely up to 30C, or nearer 35C in south-west Spain and Portugal. Isolated thunderstorms by late afternoon in north-west Spain & Portugal. Lots of sunshine across the western Mediterranean, southern France and Italy. Afternoon showers possible inland along the spine of Italy. A north-easterly breeze across the Alps. Variable cloud but dry for northern France, the Low Countries & Germany, highs 18 to 23C.
Low pressure across eastern Europe brings heavy rain and possible thunder to Poland, Slovakia plus western parts of Ukraine and Romania. Thunderstorms breaking out increasingly for the Balkans and mainland Greece . The Greek Islands will be dry, sunny and warm - likewise for the eastern Mediterranean and areas around the Black Sea, highs 25C. Showers for central & southern Norway and Sweden, plus a blustery wind for southern Scandinavia. Dry with light winds for Finland and northern Sweden.
Little change to broad-scale weather pattern across Europe - high pressure and very warm weather in the west, but unsettled with thundery rain to the east. Temperatures in Spain and Portugal again reaching 30 to 35C. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms for north-west Iberia. Hotting up in south-west France too, topping 30C. The warmth extends across the western Med into Italy, with highs into the upper 20s Celsius. Inland thunderstorms by afternoon for the spine of Italy, perhaps locally for the western Alps.
Cloudy skies for much of Germany, with a northerly breeze. Scattered heavy showers for the Balkans. Thunderstorms breaking out for Greece. Areas of rain for Romania and western Ukraine - some heavy and persistent falls. Patchy rain for northern Poland and the Baltic states, also Finland. A good deal of dry weather across Scandinavia. Scattered showers around coasts of northern Norway where it be cool at 10C. Warmer across Sweden with sunshine, nearing 20C in the south.
