Windy and cool in Scandinavia
Plenty of dry and warm weather across southern Europe. A long but weak frontal system trails across central regions, marking the divide between the late season heat in the south, and cooler conditions across northern countries.
A hot day for Spain and Portugal, topping 30C in the south-west. Areas of thunderstorms around Sardinia and Sicily, but much of the Mediterranean will be dry and very warm, highs 24 to 28C in Italy and Greece .
Some bursts of rain in central France, cool with a few showers toward the north. Sunny spells for the Low Countries. Partly cloudy across Germany, perhaps a little rain. Dry and warm for eastern Europe, 24 to 27C in Hungary, Romania and southern Poland.
Windy across northern Europe. Low pressure over northern Scandinavia bring showers to Finland. Persistent rain in western Norway, snow on the mountains. Mainly dry in Sweden. Blustery showers for Denmark.
A front across central Europe continues to separate cool and warm air masses over the continent. Hot and dry again in southern Spain and Portugal, but cooler toward the north, with a few showers near the Biscay coast. Risk of thunderstorms for western Italy, but drier toward the Adriatic coast. Fine weather extends across the east and south-east of Europe.
Heavy bursts of rain are likely for central and eastern France extending into the western Alps, and across central Germany. Showers follow from the west in France. Meanwhile, a zone of persistent showery rain is likely to drift into Belgium and the Netherlands, later Denmark. Winds will ease around the southern Baltic, but the far north remains blustery as low pressure remains over northern Scandinavia. A brighter day for much of Norway, although cold and showery in the north.
