Unsettled across Northern Europe

An area of rain is expected across Germany into Holland, Belgium and northern parts of France into the channel. Across central and southern France along with most of Spain and Portugal, expect frequent and heavy showers with the risk of thunder. Perhaps the far east of Spain will remain dry with one or two scattered showers around the Balearics. From Corsica, Sardinia up through Italy into Greece, expect a dry day with lots of sunshine. More unsettled across Turkey with some heavy showers. Continued very warm to hot across much of eastern Europe. Lots of warm sunshine today come across the former Yugoslavia and the Czech Republic but high temperatures will trigger quite a few heavy showers across Romania, the Ukraine into Belarus and the Baltic States. Another area of more persistent rain is expected across Finland and Russia today with gales through the Baltic Sea. Much colder across Norway and Sweden today with heavy snow while rain showers are forecast for southern parts of Sweden. Mainly dry today across Denmark and the Poland. Heavy showers are expected across the Alps into Austria.

Still some showers to come across Portugal and Spain today but with more in the way of sunshine. Quite windy, though, with a strong west wind blowing through the Straits of Gibraltar. We will also see some shower activity around the Balearics and across into Corsica and Sardinia, while more persistent rain is expected across the northern half of Italy. Southern parts of Italy will be dry with sunny spells and this fine weather extends across into Greece and western parts of Turkey and northward through Bulgaria, most of Romania, the former Yugoslavia and the Czech Republic. Persistent rain is expected across northern parts of France into much of Germany and western Poland while heavy showers with the risk of thunder will affect southern France, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech republic and eastern parts of Poland. Cloudy across Belgium with the risk of some rain but it looks mainly dry across Holland and Denmark, and up through much of Norway and Sweden, although snow showers will affect western parts of Norway. Dry across Finland today while heavy showers are forecast across the Baltic States and into Belarus and parts of western Russia. Lots of heavy showers as well to come across eastern parts of Turkey.
