Rain and rain!
Cool too

Issued: 0900hrs Sunday 10th June 2012
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Yet more unsettled weather ahead for the whole of the UK and Ireland during the coming week. Rain is likely to be heavy at times, although the area that the heavier rain will cover is likely to be relatively localised. The best of the conditions, at least until the weekend, will be in Scotland. Cool for all.

For the weather for the next few days click here

Wednesday 13/6/12
A shallow area of low pressure looks set to persist across Wales, southwest England and eastern Ireland on Wednesday. This brings a further area of rain through Wales, some of it heavy. Showers for southwest England and eastern Ireland. There is the threat of some rain through the Midlands too, but more northern and eastern areas should be drier with sunny spells. Temperatures at 18C in southern England, 11C in northern Scotland.

Thursday 14/6/12
Low pressure is expected to be to the south of the UK on Thursday. Higher pressure to the north will mean that most areas continue with an east to northeast flow. Showers are likely across the southern half of England, Wales and Ireland, with these becoming heavy at times and perhaps even merging into longer spells of rain. Less frequent showers in Scotland, and the west of Scotland should be dry with the best sunshine here. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 16C in southern England.

Friday 15/6/12
Low pressure is expected to be close to the south of the country on Friday. This brings the threat of further rain to much of southern England and Wales, as well as southern Ireland. The northwards extent of the rain is unclear at present, hence confidence is low. Showers for more northern and eastern areas with the best sunshine again in western Scotland. Highs at 8 to 15C.

Saturday 16/6/12
Low pressure is again close by through Saturday, although probably mainly affecting Ireland and Scotland. It is here where most of any persistent rain will be. Elsewhere it is a warmer day with a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers. Highs at 11 to 19C.

Sunday 17/6/12
Probably a more unsettled day over a wider part of the country for Sunday as low pressure drifts eastwards. This is going to be bringing cloud and rain, some of it heavy at times, but mostly affecting northern and western areas. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Monday 18/6/12
Little change on Monday. A trough extends through the country and this brings a mix of sunny spells and showers, some of them heavy at times. Highs at 11 to 17C.
