Wet conditions across southern parts of the country late this week, with the risk of the rain being heavy. More northern areas should be drier, but colder. High pressure then builds bringing fair weather,l before slipping to the east. At the same time low pressure will spread into western areas bringing cloud and rain.

Friday 5/10/12
Friday looks set to become a wet day across the south of the UK. There could be some heavy spells of rain across southern England and Wales, as well as southern Ireland. There is the prospect of some localised flooding here. Across northern England, Scotland and Ireland the day should be drier, although with a fair amount of cloud and just one or two showers around northern coasts and hills. Highs at a nippy 10 to 14C.


Saturday 6/10/12
Low pressure crosses southern England on Saturday morning. It brings heavy rain and some strong winds with it as it clears eastwards. Following will be much brighter weather, and it will be feeling cooler too as a northwest wind sets in with high pressure building west of Ireland. A few showers in Scotland, but otherwise dry. Highs at 11 to 15C.
 


Sunday 7/10/12
An area of high pressure builds through the country on Sunday. This brings a cold start to the day with a risk of a morning ground frost. This should clear and then the morning should be bright with good spells of sunshine. Staying fair in the afternoon with broken cloud and some sunny spells, but also a few showers in northern Scotland. Highs at 12 to 15C.
 


Monday 8/10/12
High pressure will be to the east of the country through Monday. Low pressure will be to the west with strong winds affecting the western parts of the UK. More eastern areas will be drier with sunny spells. Highs at 12 to 18C.

 
 
 


Tuesday 9/10/12
Cloud and rain affects Ireland and western Scotland on Tuesday. More eastern and southern parts of the country will be dry with sunny spells. Highs around 14 to 19C.

The south to southwest wind persists through Tuesday. This brings lots of cloud across southern and western parts of the country with outbreaks of drizzle. More eastern and northern areas are drier, although it remains cloudy. Highs at 14 to 20C.
