Cool nights and days over the coming with with a risk of some overnight ground frosts. It should be mainly dry through most areas with sunny spells. By the end of the weekend and into the early part of the new week low pressure will be taking control and this is going to be bringing cooler, more unsettled weather with rain and showers.

Thursday 20/9/12
High pressure remains to the south and northwest of the country through Thursday. A weak front lies through Ireland and northern England as well as southern Scotland with lots of cloud and some spots of rain here. Elsewhere it will be dry with good spells of sunshine, although a cold start to the day is expected once again. Highs around 10 to 18C.


Friday 21/9/12
A ridge of high pressure building to the west through Friday, with lower pressure to the east. A chilly start to the day with sunny spells for all. There will be some showers developing, the heaviest of them across more northern and eastern areas. Highs at 9 to 18C.
 


Saturday 22/9/12
A small area of high pressure will become centred over the UK and Ireland on Saturday. A cold start to the morning, with the risk of a ground frost inland, will give way to a dry day with good spells of sunshine. Cloud may increase in western Ireland and western Scotland but it should stay dry. Highs at 12 to 19C.
 


Sunday 23/9/12
A ridge of high pressure drifts east on Sunday with pressure falling to the west. Cloud and periods of rain will be spreading into western areas and these will become heavy at times. The winds increasing across the west of the country too, although eastern parts should be drier. Highs at 12 to 19C.
 


Monday 24/9/12
A significant area of low pressure will be moving over the UK and Ireland on Monday. This looks set to bring more unsettled conditions with rain or showers and plenty of cloud. Temperatures will reach 11 to 18C.


Tuesday 25/9/12
The area of low pressure becomes stuck over the country on Tuesday. It brings a cool day with sunny spells and heavy showers, some of these thundery at times. Highs at 9 to 16C.
