A colder day across Britain today and rather windy across the far south of southern England. Cloudy for much of England and Wales in the morning with spells of persistent and heavy rain. Scattered showers will affect northern areas, these wintry over the hills. Brighter across England and Wales in the afternoon with sunnier spells and showers. Some of these may be heavy and may turn wintry across the Welsh Hills and the hills of northern England. Elsewhere the showers will be of rain. Expect highs of 5 to 9 Celsius.
It stays rather breezy in the evening and the night which should restrict frost to sheltered locations. With temperatures falling to freezing and below there is a risk of icy conditions developing by morning. Showers this evening will become confined to western coasts. Clear and cold overnight. An area of rain moves into Northern Ireland and Scotland and this will fall as snow over the hills of Scotland. Expect minimum temperatures of -2 to 2 Celsius.

Outbreaks of rain will spread into all but the East Midlands, East Anglia and the south east of England in the morning. Rain lingers across north east England snow on the hills for the afternoon. Elsewhere it looks brighter with scattered showers. Breezy but dry into the evening and night with icy patches across northern areas. Expect high temperatures of 6 to 8 Celsius.
Outbreaks of moderate to heavy rain will spread into Wales and the south west of England in the morning. Dry and sunnier to the east. That rain in the south west then sweeps north eastward into all of England and will be heavy. Gales develop across Wales, Northern Ireland and southern England. These will increase further across Wales and the southern half of England. Overnight there is a risk of some damaging gusts to 60 mph across inland areas. Rain is expected across northern Britain in the evening. Look for high temperatures of 6 to 9 Celsius.
