Heavy Rain
Gales in the South

Monday
A wet and windy day to come across the United Kingdom today with outbreaks of rain in the morning. This will be very heavy for western Scotland, down through northern England into Wales. By the afternoon the heaviest rain is likely to be across Wales and southwest of England as gales develop across the south west of England and through the channel. Across Scotland and Northern Ireland morning rain will have cleared to frequent showers by the afternoon, some heavy with hail. Expect maximum temperatures today of 9 to 11 Celsius north to south.

Monday night
A very windy evening across southern England with south westerly gales but moderate overnight. Heavy spells of rain across England and Wales will clear this evening. A dry night across central and eastern parts of England while plenty of showers continue across western areas in across Scotland. A cold night to come with minimum temperatures of 1 to 4 Celsius.

Tuesday
Central and eastern parts of England will start the day, dry with good sunny spells but showers in the west and north will develop across southern areas in the morning. This will lead to an afternoon of showers, some of which will become heavy with hail, but temporarily, interspersed with dry, sunnier spells. We could see an area of heavier, persistent rain coming into northeast Scotland in the afternoon. During this evening, most of the shower activity will fade which will lead to a dry, clear, cold night with a frost by morning. Expect top temperatures of 8 to 11 Celsius.

Wednesday
The southwest of England should be dry with the best of the sunshine today. For the bulk of the United Kingdom. It's another day of sunny spells and showers, these becoming frequent heavy from the morning through the afternoon. Again, we will find the shower activity subsiding by early evening, then dry over night with clear spells and a risk of a frost by morning. Look for high temperatures of 9 to 12 Celsius.
