Thursday A windy day with severe gales developing around western coasts with gusts later near 80 mph. Outbreaks of heavy rain are forecast for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England and northwest Wales this morning. The rest of England will be cloudy but dry. In the afternoon we are not expecting much change as the heavy rain remains in those areas. Some bright spells will develop towards the south east and it's quite a mild afternoon to come with highs of 11 to 15C north to south.
Thursday Night This evening the rain lingers across Scotland, north west England, western Wales and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere it remains dry but cloudy. Overnight it stays dry across East Anglia, the East Midlands and south east England. The rest of Britain will be wet with heavy rain. This may lead to local flooding in places. Severe gales this evening with gusts to 90 mph around exposed western coasts will become less strong later in the night. Lows of 10 to 13C.
Friday Gusty winds will abate this afternoon. Heavy rain across England and Scotland quickly sweeps away into the North Sea this morning. As it does so the sun comes out and it looks mainly dry for the rest of the day though a few showers will affect north and north western parts of Scotland. Heavy rain sweeps back into the West Country this evening then into Wales and the southern half of England in the night. Expect highs of 10 to 15C.
Saturday It becomes windy again today with gales developing in the south west. These gales may develop even further through the evening and night and may become potentially damaging across western Britain with gust perhaps in excess of 90 mph. A thoroughly wet day for all areas with heavy spells of rain. There remains the risk of flooding in the heavy rain which clears to showers for the evening and night, these mainly in the north and west. Expect highs of 9 to 14C.
