Tuesday A breezy start to the day across Scotland with a risk of gales in the south. There will be a few showers affecting the far north of Scotland, and likewise showers will be affecting northwest England and Wales too. A few of these could be on the heavy side. For more eastern and southern parts the morning will be dry and bright with some sunny spells. By late morning cloud and more persistent outbreaks of rain will be crossing Ireland, the winds increasing here again. These more persistent outbreaks of rain reach Scotland, northwest England and Wales after lunch. Most of the Midlands, northeast England, the Midlands and southern England will be dry with sunny spells. Highs at 9 to 13C.
Tuesday Night Becoming breezy and cloudy across much of Scotland, northern England, Wales and Ireland this evening, the cloud spilling through the Midlands. This increasingly brings outbreaks of rain, possibly turning persistent across southern Ireland, Wales, the northern Midlands and northern England. That rain may be heavy in western and northern Wales in the early hours. Lows will be near 9 to 12C.
Wednesday A wet start to the morning seems likely across much of Wales, western England, western Scotland and Ireland. That rain may be heavy in northern England and northern Wales. A few spots of rain in the cloud to the south, but staying windy with the winds to severe gale force in the west and gusts in excess of 60mph. Drier for the north and east of Scotland, a few bright spells here. Into the afternoon the heaviest of rain tracks north to be through much of Scotland by evening. It stays windy and rather cloudy to the south with a few spots of rain in the wind, especially on western coasts and slopes. Highs will be near a mild 10 to 14C.
Thursday A windy day across the whole of the country with gales being widespread and gusts of wind to 70mph in the west. There will be an area of heavy rain extending through Ireland and into western Scotland too. This area moves little through the day and brings the risk of some local flooding in places by the end of the day. Generally cloudy elsewhere with a few spots of drizzle or light rain in the wind, and very mild. The far southeast is likely to have the best of the sunshine and it is here that it could become very mild with highs of 16C. Nearer 13C in northwest Scotland.
