Friday A murky start to the day over most of the country. There will be some bright or sunny spells around in more eastern and central areas, but always a tendency for these to be filling in. Cloud is going to be thicker to the west and there will be some spots of drizzle over the west of Wales and southwest England, as well as western Scotland. More persistent rain will be edging into Ireland and western Scotland later. The afternoon sees more cloud through western areas with outbreaks of patchy rain over southwest England, Wales and the west of Scotland, as well as Ireland. Increasingly windy here too. Eastern and central parts of England should stay dry although cloudy. Highs at a mild 17C in the southeast, 12C in northwest Scotland.
Friday Night A band of rain and stronger winds moves eastwards through the British Isles overnight. The rain cloud be heavy at times over high ground,e specially Wales and across northern England and Scotland. It will be the early hours before the rain reaches East Anglia, but which time drier weather will have moves through Ireland, Wales, western England and the west of Scotland. A brisk southwest wind will be blowing and temperatures will be down to 11 to 13C by the morning.
Saturday A fresher day across all parts of the country on Saturday. There will be some morning rain over East Anglia and the southeast, but this should be clearing away and then the morning is going to be generally dry but breezy. There will be a few showers around in the morning and into the afternoon, most of them affecting western coasts of Wales and Scotland as well as southwest England. Highs around 13C in northern Scotland, 18C in southern England.
Sunday A very windy day on Sunday with a period of heavy rain sweeping north and east through the country. The rain lasts for much of the day for northern and central Scotland and it will be heavy at times. Following the rain will be a mix of sunny spells and blustery showers, most of them in the west. Winds could gust to 60mph over southern and western Scotland, northern England, west Wales and Ireland. Highs near a cold 8 to 11C, certainly a lot colder than the past few days!
