Heavy rain in south tonight

Apart from a few showers for West Wales and north west Scotland, most parts of Britain will have a fine, dry and mostly sunny morning. A few showers in the afternoon across western Scotland, Cumbria and Northern Ireland. The rest of the country stays dry with sunny spells although late in the afternoon the far west turns cloudier. Rather windy across Wales and England, more so in the morning. Expect top temperatures of 12 to 15 Celsius.

Outbreaks of rain spread in across Wales and central and southern parts of England through the evening and night. The rain will be heavy especially south of the M4 corridor. Heavy showers are forecast for north west England and western Scotland. Gales will develop in the south west before morning. Expect minimum temperatures of 4 to 10 Celsius north to south.

Windy today with gales in the south east in the morning. A lot of cloud across southern England with rain in the extreme southern coastal counties and here it tends to persist for much of the day. Expect showers across Scotland, Northern Ireland and western England with the rest of the country fair and dry. Dry across much of Britain this evening then another area of rain spreads back into the extreme south of England but will be heavier across Cornwall and Devon. Dry for most of the country tonight. Maximum temperatures of 11 to 14 Celsius.

Confidence is not too high on the northward extent of an area of rain the model keeps across south west England and the channel coasts most of the day. High pressure is expected to give the bulk of Britain a dry day with good sunny spells. Through the evening and night that area of rain my develop and push into Wales. Colder to the north with a risk of a frost across Scotland and parts of northern England. Maximum temperatures of 13 to 15 Celsius.
