Wednesday A fair amount of cloud and some mist and fog patches over the country this morning. There will be a few brighter spells coming through over western Scotland, western Wales and Northern Ireland. Through the morning a few bright spells could occur just about anywhere. However, cloud is going to be thickening over southern Ireland and the far southwest of England. During the afternoon rain arrives here, and this will be spreading northwards through Ireland and into Wales and southwest England by the end of the day. Staying mainly dry to the north and east, with the cloud breaking further and some bright spells coming through here. Highs near a cold 8 to 11C.
Wednesday Night A band of cloud and rain passing north and east through the country bringing some moderate periods of rain with it, and some low cloud shrouding the hills. Some clearer skies and a few showers over Ireland and western Wales as well as southwest England. Drier weather to the north and east of Scotland still with a fair amount of cloud here, although the rain reaching these places by the morning. Drier weather to the south and west. Lows of 3 to 8C.
Thursday An area of cloud, rain and strong winds spreading through the Irish Sea and into Ireland, Wales and western England. This area of rain passes through Scotland and into northern and western England, some of it becoming heavy at times. Eastern areas will be cloudy with further outbreaks of rain, after a drier start through the morning. Drier weather reaches Ireland, Wales and southwest England later in the day. The winds in excess of gale force in the west in the afternoon. Tops of 9 to 14C.
Friday Strong winds and rain reaching southern and southwestern parts of the country on Friday morning. The rain becoming heavy and the winds reaching severe gale force. Eastern parts of the country having a drier morning, perhaps with a few bright spells and staying breezy too. The heaviest rain in western and northern England as well as Wales in the afternoon with the winds gusting to above 50mph in the west. Northern parts of Scotland will be drier with cloud and a few spots of rain. Highs near 8C in northern Scotland, 15C in the far south of England.
