Heavy showers or rain
Very unsettled

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 18th April 2012
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

A very unsettled day ahead

Good morning, An area of low pressure is going to be centred over central England through today. This is going to be bringing very unsettled weather for most of England and Wales, and it is going to be windy as well. There will be showers and longer spells of rain. It looks as if the most persistent rain will be through the Midlands, northern England, East Anglia and the southeast, with heavy showers then following from the west.

Heavy showers across eastern and central Scotland too, as well as over the coasts of northeast England. Further west there will be fewer showers, these generally well scattered. It is going to be dry for many in the west with some good spells of sunshine. Thicker cloud affects northern Scotland and the northern Isles bringing the risk of rain here.

More rain tonight through eastern Scotland, northwest England and into Wales and possibly the western Midlands. Further rain too across parts of East Anglia and southeast England.

Have a great day.
