The cloudy conditions persist with rain in the southwest later
Good morning, It's not a bad start over most of the country. There is lots of cloud around all parts of the country, and some mist and fog patches too, especially in the north and east. There are a few breaks in the cloud allowing some sunny spells to come through, the highest chance of Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
For this afternoon there will be increasing cloud over southern Ireland and southwest England, this bringing a higher risk of rain. The rain then spreads through central Ireland and into Wales and southwest England. Most northern and eastern areas will be dry with broken cloud.
Overnight the rain clears north and eastwards, and could be heavy t times in the west. Drier conditions follow to the south and west. Thursday looks set to become wet and windy with those winds to gale or severe gale force in the west.
The rest of the week is unsettled and things become very disturbed over the weekend with the winds reaching gale force and the threat of heavy rain at times.
Have a great day. Simon me at simon.keeling@weatheronline.co.uk
