Look out for heavy rain today across northern England, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland. Through today and tonight totals up to 40mm are possible and could lead to local flooding across north west England.

 
 
 

To the north and south of this heavy rain area it looks fair and mainly dry. A lot of cloud generally though. Highs today of 12 to 17C with overnight lows of 5 to 9 Celsius.
