Was that summer?
Probably!

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 1st August 2012

Was that summer? Autumn must be just around the corner!

Good morning, And welcome to August. Well, it doesn't feel like we have had a summer does it? It's still chilly out there and there are no signs of a heatwave in August, and so I think we may have to face facts; that was it! Oh well, not to worry, it's confirmation that living in Britain and Ireland still gives the opportunity to wonder at how varied the weather is (okay, so I am trying to cheer you up!).

Today's chart looks more like autumn than summer with a deep area of low pressure close to Ireland. This has fronts wrapped around it which will be bringing cloud and rain. Most of this in more northern and western areas where some could be heavy. To the east and south there will be some showers, and again a few could be heavy. However, East Anglia and the far southeast could have some brighter spells breaking though leading to some very warm temperatures here. Breezy, especially in the west.

Have a great day.
