Morning Call - April 17, 2012
Rain clears east
Sunshine & showers

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 17th April 2012
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Rain clears east then sunshine, showers and strong winds follow

Good morning, And we will be seeing a definite change in weather conditions across the country today, and that heralds the start of a new weather regime which will be with us for the next week or so. An area of low pressure is west of Scotland and this is pushing an occluded front east through the UK at the present time. The front is brings some heavy periods of rain, but this should be clear of eastern coasts by late morning. Staying wet for northern Scotland for much of the day.

Following the rain is drier and brighter weather, although it is windy. There will be showers in the flow too and these showers are going to be heavy at times on western coasts and hills. A particular focus for the showers will be across southern Wales and southwest England later this morning and early afternoon, these ten spreading through most of southern England.

Get set for some severe gales in Ireland tonight, these transferring to Wales and southwest England as well as the western English Channel by the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Have a great day.
