Simon: Temperatures won't be as cold tonight as they were last night. A band of rain is bringing rather messy conditions as it passes east. yes, temperatures are rising as the rain arrives, but with freezing temperatures ahead of it some ice is likely. Turning drier across Ireland now and this drier weather will push east as the night progresses.

Simon: Rain is now crossing Ireland and heading to west Wales and the west UK this afternoon. As it comes up against freezing temperatures inland this evening it will turn to ice for a time before becoming rain again.

Simon: Overnight minimum temperatures widely fell to -10C over the snow fields last night. Shawbury in Shropshire has come in as coldest so far with a low of -12C.

Simon: Rain arriving in western Ireland now. Other parts of Ireland and the UK are mostly dry this morning with plenty of ice and bitterly cold temperatures to start the day.

Simon: Wintry showers on eastern coasts this evening and overnight as rain clears the southeast. Some showers on far western coasts too. For most the night will be very cold with a widespread frost and temperatures down as low as -10C.

Simon: Yesterdays snow has now cleared leaving ice as the main problem for many this morning. However, a new area of rain, sleet and snow (mostly on the hills) is affecting SE England and East Anglia through today. Further snow showers reaching northern and western Scotland with some wintry showers on eastern coasts of England too. Drry, bright and cold elsewhere.

Simon: Snow continues to ease across Wales and the Midlands tonight. Severe front to the north with heavy snow showers in northern and western Scotland.

Garry: Some areas of persistent snow for central Britain into the evening and night. Widespread ice. Dropping well below freezing in northern regions, -10C locally.

Garry: Persistent snow for many hours across central England & Wales today. Rain toward the south, with gales around the English Channel. The northern edge of the snow is around the Peak District. Dry for most of northern Britain. Snow showers far north of Scotland.

Simon: Latest GFS model is now a little further south with the low and this allows for snow over central Ireland, Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia from the early hours of Sunday morning. Rain further south.

Matt: Wintry showers continuing to feed into NW England next few hours, otherwise lot of dry weather. Emphasis though is on wet weather slowly moving north and east tonight, this turning readily to snow across central areas of England and N Wales in particular.

John: a milder start than of late. A lot of mist and murk across England and Wales this morning with patches of drizzle. It should brighten up in the afternoon with some rain into the far west late in the day.

Matt: Stagnant and rather benign conditions continue, with a lot of low cloud and hill fog in places too. Milder evening and night ahead than of late, many areas remaining above freezing tonight, while some patchy rain and drizzle moves southwards.

Matt: Milder, less-cold weather than of late continues to filter southwards bringing rather grey and murky conditions. Patchy rain and drizzle in places too. Cold air still hanging on though, for now, across central and southern areas of England.

John: it slowly becomes a bit milder from the west through the day. Still a cold start across eastern Britain. Splashes of patchy light rain and drizzle to mainly affect western areas. This clears the south east this morning.
